WEST BENGAL W.B.C.S EXAMINATION SYLLABUS :
Public Service Commission, W.B.C.S. will hold a Combined West Bengal open examination for recruitment to post of officer lable.
The first stage of the examination is purely on the basis of multiple choice objective type question and the main examination will be held as usual on conventional type question. Those who will be declared qualified at the prelim, exam in a particular year will be eligible for admission to the Main Exam of that year only. The marks obtained in the Preliminary will not be counted for final selection and last Interview.

AGE LIMITS :-
Candidate should be between 21 and 32 years as on 1st January for groups A. C.D. & for Group- B the candidate should be of the age group of 20 to 32 years, Govt, rules will be applied in case of age relaxation of SC, ST, OBC, & Physically handicapped candidates normally upper age limit is relaxation be 5 yrs, for SC/ST three year for OBC maximum 45 yrs, is allowed in case of a physically handicapped candidate.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATION :-
West Bengal W.B.C.S. (Prelim) exam must have passed Graduation . The candidate should have been graduated from any university. There is also provision for candidates who have appeared at the final degree examination.

Part – I
1. English Composition — 25 question, 25 marks

Time —-2.30 min 200 Question 200 Marks
The W.B.C.S Main Exam Consists of 6 Compulsory papers.
1. Bengali/ Hindi/ Urdu/ Nepali ————-200 mark
2. English ——-200 ”
3. General studies (paper- I) ————-200 marks
4.General studies (paper- II)—————–200 marks
5.The Constitution of India and the Five year Plans ———–200 marks
6. Arithmetic and Test of Reasoning ———————-200 marks
GROUP WISE PAPERS IN THE MAIN EXAMINATION:-
(i) “A” & “B” Group = All 6 compulsory paper and one optional subject of two paper ———–400 marks
(ii) “C” &”D” Group = All 6 compulsory paper.
MARKS FOR PERSONALITY TEST:-
(I) Group A & B ————-200 marks
(ii) Group C ——————150 marks
(iii) Group D —————-100 marks
NOTE – I
The paper will consist of objective type Multiple choice questions only. The question will be set both in BENGALI and ENGLISH.
NOTE – II
There will be negative marking of 1/3 Marks for each wrong answer. Candidates are therefore advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.
